Avalon Organic Gardens & Ecovillage is one of the worlds largest and longest sustaining EcoVillages situated on 220-acres of historic & sacred agricultural land in Southern Arizona's fertile Santa Cruz River Valley. Avalon Gardens offers residential and internship programs so visitors and resident visitors can learn and experience sustainability, community life, and permaculture practices.


Baron Studio

Hand made, food safe, soda fired ceramic bowls, sippers, dishes, seed holders, planters, tile, shard necklaces, and buttons by Scottsdale-based artist Joan Baron who earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Art Institute of Chicago and was honored in 1990 as a Phoenix Home & Garden Master of the Southwest. “I started out fascinated by the potter’s wheel as a tool to create functional ceramic bowls. It was a strong emotional connection that evolved into a passion for edible landscaping and environmental activism,” she remembers. “Today, when I design functional pieces, the work celebrates this sensual, spiritual and environmental connection of people and the earth.”
